How I Made My First $1,000 Blogging!
I remember when I first started this website a little over a year ago. I told my husband I’ll give it a year and if I’m not making at least one thousand dollars a month after a year, then I’ll stop doing it.
It’s funny though because I never had a doubt that I wouldn’t make that much money for a second!
Always go with your gut
I believe there are some things in life that you know you can do and are 100% sure about. Does that make sense? The rest is foggy and you aren’t quite sure the outcome!
There are 3 things in my life that I knew without a doubt was the right decision to make and I could feel it in my gut.
1. The first one was marrying my husband, I knew he was the one for me. Sounds so crazy and corny but true!
2. The second was when my daughter was incredibly sick and her doctors were guessing every health issue possible, including cancer. Everything in my gut told me it was something else, something rare, and she needed a better specialist. I found her a different specialist and we got the answers we needed to help her!
3. The third thing was creating this website as a form of passive income, as a business, then start a few more websites, and eventually do this as my full-time job. I’m almost there! 😉
I knew I could make $1,000 a month within one year if I put my mind and dedicated my time to it and I did!
I’m here to tell you if you love to write, create, design, manage your own business, you can absolutely make money from home with a successful blog.
It will take time and having patience is key.
Making money from your blog will take time. You won’t make $1,000 your first or second month as a brand new blogger. However, if you have more than part-time hours to dedicate to your blog and are determined, you can absolutely make $1,000 within 5 months!
If you aren’t a brand new blogger and have experience designing websites, coding, managing social media platforms, then you CAN make good money rather quickly. It all depends on your experience and situation.
This is my second blog income report. I’m not sure how many of these reports I will continue to write as my income grows. I may do a few more and then stop since it’s odd to tell the world how much you make.
Why do this at all?
I honestly do it to keep track of my income and expenses for myself but most importantly, I do it to motivate others. I want to show other people that this is actually possible.
When I was started my blog a year ago one of the biggest motivators for me was reading other people’s blog income reports. I found it amazing to see that they earned money from writing and creating what they loved.
I knew I could do the same thing and I did! I want to be able to show other people starting a blog that they can do the exact same thing I did! Maybe even quicker!
I will mention that I do this part-time which means about 10-20 hours a week. Some weeks it’s more give or take my husband’s schedule or what’s going on with my kids or my other job. One thing that really helped me was that I was incredibly dedicated to make this work.
Honestly, if you were to ask me one tip, I’d tell you that you have to be dedicated and want it badly enough. You have to work at it every single day and ignore any negative opinions from others!
It’s also best not to tell many close friends/family what you are up to because sometimes their reactions may not be what you need to hear. Most people I have told don’t understand what I’m doing, look at me like I’m crazy, or pretend it’s just a hobby. Let them think what they want! Ha! As long as my husband understands what I do and is supportive, then that’s all I need!
Everyone talks about the “summer slump” but I didn’t have that this summer! In fact, July was great for me!
July can be difficult for some bloggers but this year I decided not to hear about it! I wrote some posts that were summer related and updated a few other things that helped keep my numbers up! I’m hoping for August and September my page views will soar since I have a lot of other new posts coming out and my SEO game has been improving quite a bit!
I also discovered that my domain authority has increased to a 39 which is pretty darn good for having a website for only a year!
My top 5 posts last month that brought me the most traffic:
C-Section Recovery Tips only your BFF would tell you!
How To Prevent Stretch Marks During Pregnancy
Top 13 Beach Essentials for Babies and Toddlers
Hands Down The Best Natural Sunscreen for Babies and Kids
What to pack for a scheduled c-section
A few other things that helped a bit this month were Tailwind Tribes. I was hesitate with Tribes at first and only added a few pins here and there but then I noticed things took off!
As you can see in the photo below, in the month of June where I didn’t pin a whole lot to Tribes, I got a little over 6,000 sessions just from Tribes! Once I saw this number for June, I decided to bump up my game a bit for July! In July, Tribes gave me over 10,000 sessions to my blog!
I still manually pin to my group boards and I use some Tailwind to pin new pins to boards. I have been noticing that my own Pinterest boards do incredibly well. However, I’m not giving up on group boards yet since they still bring me a lot of repins that I can see through notifications.
If you are interested in joining Tailwind Tribes but have no idea where to begin like I did when I started, check out this ebook called Tribes For Traffic! You won’t be disappointed and it will tell you exactly what to do to gain traffic so quickly with Tribes!
Enough of the babbling!
My website has really grown a lot in a year! Just last month I was able to make $1,019.94! I’m over the moon about this and have been learning as much I can to help it grow even more so!! Here is exactly how I made my first $1,000 blogging!
Amazon was huge for me this month! I love being an Amazon Affiliate because I’m an amazon shopper! As a busy mom of 3, Amazon is gold to me!
Pinteresting Strategies– $62.50
So, there you have it! This is the majority of how I earn my income right now. I will be adding a few more affiliates as I grow and possibly a product or two of my own in the future. As of right now, I don’t have the time for much else.
I also have a good size email list but haven’t sent out one email to my subscribers yet! Ouch, right???!! You’re probably thinking I’m insane here and I know that’s a huge no no in the blogging world to ignore your email list! Honestly, I just don’t have the extra time to send out emails at the moment. I would like to but right now my goals are in another direction.
Social Media Numbers
If you’re wondering about my social media influence, here are my numbers that continue to grow but I have only focused 2 social media platforms at the moment. I will add more content/photos to Instagram and Facebook as I grow, but at the moment, it isn’t a major traffic driver for me so I won’t waste my time there.
If you are starting your blog and have such limited time like I do, you really have to make a list every day and put focus on what’s most important to drive you traffic right now. Those other things you can add to later on when you can dedicate more hours to your website. Otherwise, you’ll be all over the place without getting any blog traffic.
Pinterest– 3,778 followers
Twitter– 2,570 followers
Eventually I’ll work on my Instagram and Facebook game more. At the moment, I just can’t keep up and Pinterest and Twitter seem to be the easiest and most time worthy for me right now.
If you want to know how I was able to make $1,000 a month blogging so quickly, you can ready exactly what I learned here. These blogging resources taught me everything I know. I didn’t pay for any crazy expensive blogging course if that’s what you’re worried about! I will continue to buy courses and invest as I grow since I still have so much to learn! Many of the things I learned on this blogging resource page were actually FREE! The others were very affordable since I didn’t have a lot of extra money for expensive courses or the extra time!
