Work From Home Jobs For Moms

Work From Home Jobs For Moms

I quit my full-time job after I had my first baby. The idea of being away from her from 6:30am-6pm killed me and I just couldn’t do it.

I found a way to work two part-time jobs which allowed me to spend more time with her. I was able to set my own hours and it was better than my full-time job.

Pay wasn’t as great, but we only had one child at the time so we managed fine.

Then….I had my second daughter and things changed!

We decided it was best if I only worked my one part-time job or stayed home altogether. I really wanted to stay home but I knew financially things would be difficult for us.

My gut told me that I could find a legitimate work from home job, yet I had no idea how?!!

I loved writing and researched as much as I could about what I could do using my writing ability to make money.

I was able to get a few “newbie writer” jobs once I knew how to write online. You can read all about where to start as a new writer and freelance writing jobs for newbies in my post here or click the photo below!

If you don’t have any experience but want to get your foot in the door, the best way is by asking a friend or family member who has a business, to run their social media platforms for them or be an admin for just one of their platforms. This will help you gain some experience and allow you to use their names as a reference on your resume to get you hired for more work.

A little warning here, this job is something that is only possible to do while your children are napping!

I looked into this many years ago and thought it sounded great but realized I needed to do a lot of listening and my house is never quiet so it just didn’t work out for me.

Pinterest Virtual Assistant –

Yes, this is an actual job so if you love Pinterest, then I’d advice you to look into to this!

This is a fairly new career but since Pinterest has become so huge (and let’s face it, who doesn’t love Pinterest) this job will become more demanding! I may be hiring one myself in the next year or two!

Pinterest Virtual Assistant falls into the social media consulting/virtual assistant category but I added this separate because it’s slightly different and like I mentioned above, it will be in high demand soon!

Pinterest can be a lot to learn but so worth your time as a business owner to utilize this platform! Many business owners are too busy to take the time to promote their business on Pinterest and learn how to use it.

There are PVA courses you can take to add to your resume to help you. A formal course on Pinterest is a must and this course here by HorkeyHandbook can prepare you for all you need to know!

HorkeyHandbook’s course will give you the confidence to gain clients and make a great career out of doing what you love! Adding this to your resume is a bonus when searching for a Pinterest VA job!

Check out job openings for PVA here: Indeed, LinkedIn, and Upwork.

Virtual Assistant

I will warn you that a virtual assistant is probably the one job on here that you may need your phone occasionally, depending on your clients.

A virtual assistant is a highly skilled professional who provides administrative, technical, and/or creative business support services remotely.

Okay, but really, what do they actually do?

They can do pretty much everything! Think of them as someone who can do bookkeeping, event planning, web/graphic design, social media consulting, marketing support of any kind, scheduling, pretty much your right-hand, go-to person that knows your company in and out and what you need to keep it running smooth!

Virtual assistants are in high demand today because companies need someone to handle many aspects of their business, instead of just one.

This is where the virtual assistants shine.

You can learn more about becoming a virtual assistant here.

There are so many companies hiring for virtual assistants and the best places to find work is on LinkedIn,         Indeed, CareerBuilder, FlexJobs, Virtualassistantjobs, TimeETC or Upwork

Freelance writing

Oh, freelance writing is how I got my career started and I am so happy I did!

If you are a writer like me but are just starting out and don’t know where to begin, then I advise you to read my post here that helps out new writers and where to find jobs.

If you are brand new and have absolutely no idea where to start with writing online, then I suggest you learn on Hubpages and slowly go from there.

Freelance writing is an awesome way to make extra money and there are so many companies looking for writers! Big companies don’t have the time to write posts for their blogs or edit their websites, that’s when they outsource to people like you!

If you love to write and are a mom, it’s such a great job because there are so many freelance positions available and you can write in the morning before the kids wake up, during nap time, and then again when they go to bed (depending on how much the kids wore you out that day).

You can easily make $500-$1000 a month with writing gigs once you get good at it!

Again, if you are just starting out and looking for writing jobs, check out my post here.

If you already have some experience then I’d suggest checking out LinkedIn, UpWork, Indeed, Freelancer.

The world of blogging is amazing and honestly, I had no idea you could earn a full-time income from blogging until this past year!

Yes, if you love writing and have great ideas on helping others or want to write about topics such as DIY projects, cooking, cleaning tips, motherhood, or any other topic, then starting a blog is the best thing you can do!

Be patient, it may take time to make any income from your blog, but you CAN make money and in some cases, you can make a lot of money blogging! It is also a great way to make some passive income as well.

How I made my first $1000 blogging

Starting a blog is easy! It only takes a few minutes and you can start a blog for just $3.95 a month!  That’s one of the cheapest business start up plans around!

Using a self-hosted website like Bluehost can help guide you through the process and give you the platform you need to start your own blog and start making money!

You must use a self-hosted site in order to make money from blogging. If you choose to blog on Blogger or then you are not able to monetize your blog. This completely confused me years ago.

Blogging is a very inexpensive way to start your own business. The best part is choosing your own theme! You can go with a free theme and customize it any way you like, or pick a Premium theme. At first, I went with the free theme but after looking around, I knew I wanted something different because I really wanted my blog to become my business so I needed more options. I also didn’t know much about coding at the time so I searched high and low and fell in love with Bluchic’s feminine themes.

They had so many beautiful themes available but once I saw their Adelle theme, I knew I had to have it!

If you love my theme, you can get the same one for yourself right here!

Blogging is a hidden gem which can lead you to so many other opportunities if you are dedicated! If you have a lot to say then don’t waste anymore time and start a blog today! (Yes, I like to rhyme too 😜 )

If you have a teaching degree but would rather work from your home rather than in a school setting then there are many options available for you!

Even if you aren’t a teacher but enjoy tutoring, there are many companies/schools to choose from. Most of these jobs pay around $20 an hour depending on your experience. So, if you loved teaching but want to stay home with your little ones, you can have the best of both worlds now!

Check out these companies that hire teachers, professors, and online tutors! Eduwizards, BrainMass, Aim-For-A-Tutoring, Capella University, Connections Academy, eTutorWorld, Homework Tutoring, and AdmissionsConsultants which hires people with admissions experience to work from home.

Website Testers

Website Testers or User Testers can earn anywhere from $10-$15 for just 15 min of work!

Not too bad!

Testers must be internet savvy and in most cases speak fluent English. This job is great because you can do it in 15-20 minute increments right from the comfort of your home.

You can easily make your own schedule and pick up as much work as you can handle.

Here are some companies that hire website testers: Userfeel, UserTesting, Userlytics, UserZoom, uTest, and TestingTime

These careers can help you make a great income while raising your children and never missing any of their milestones! You will obviously need a computer and internet access in order to work for any of these companies.

Hope I was able to help a few moms out! If any of you have anymore suggestions I can add, please let me know!
