My daughter’s first birthday was coming up so I decided we should get her something big and exciting for her birthday since we were not having a party. I wanted something that was really cool that she and her 3 year old sister would also enjoy playing. After reading some reviews on Toys r Us, we decided to purchase the Fisher-Price Cruise & Groove Ballapalooza toy. The reviews that I read were pretty good but I discovered quite a few things that the reviews did not mention. Here is an honest detailed review for other interested mothers and fathers looking for a great toy to buy their child so that they can decide whether or not they want to spend the time and money on this product. At the bottom of the review is a video showing you exactly how big the product is and what it does.

Description about the product:

Children can drop balls through the lower ramps or upper chute for a surprise bounce back action to play all over again. This toy has six dancing lights which the kids love! It is for children aged 6 months and up. It does require four C batteries and you will need a screwdriver to assemble it. The Cruise & Groove Ballapalooza weighs 14.2 pounds and is 28.6 x 15.8 x 8.7 in dimensions.

PROS

-It is big and super cool for the kids and their friends to see when they first walk in the door. This definitely attracts attention to other children and is the first thing they play with. As soon as my husband put it together, my daughter said “Wow”.

-A very colorful toy. My daughter picked out all of the colors and named them right away as my husband was putting it together. It is a great tool to help teach your children colors.

-My favorite part of this toy is the music it plays and how it lights up. My daughters both love to dance and this really sets the mood! It plays dance music and lights when the balls go around it.

-The balls can go in a few different directions which is good when there is more than one child playing with it at the same time. It has about 4 different ramps for the balls to go down, a small door for the younger children to crawl through and open and close, and an inflatable ball that hangs on the other leg that kids can use as a little punching bag.

-It is big enough for at least 3 children to play with at once which is good so you do not have to worry about sharing anything. My girl’s really enjoy playing with this toy together.

CONS

– If a big toy is what you are looking for, then this is it. However, if you do not have much room in your house, then this is not the toy for you. If you watch the video below, you can tell just how large of a toy it is next to my 3 year old.

-Since it is pretty large, you would think one would be able to fold it up and store it away if needed, however, this is not the case. It is actually quite difficult to even fit through a standard doorway. So when you are putting this toy together, make sure you do it in the room that you will want to keep it in.

-It is almost too big for no reason. There is an extra leg on this toy but it really does not serve much of a purpose. There is a hanging blow up ball from this leg, but the children have not played with this very much.

-Can be expensive if you do not get it on sale. We bought it at Toys R Us and paid $59.99 but it was advertised at Target for $69.99. This is quite expensive for a toy that just plays music and balls go spinning around it. I felt that there should have been more to it for the price.

-It took about 45 minutes to put together. This was the biggest complaint when I read other reviews on the Toys R Us website so we were prepared for this. If you or your other half do not have the time to build a large toy like this then I would pass on this one.

Summary

I rated the Cruise & Groove Ballapalooza toy 4 stars because even though it is colorful and interesting with the music, it is quite expensive. My children got bored with it after the first 15 minutes. They return to it every so often and when one of their friends come over they play with it again but it was not a toy that they played with by themselves for a long period of time. My one year old daughter is not as interested in it as my 3 year old is. It is a very attractive toy, however, it does not do that many things for it to be so large. I hope this Fisher Price Toy Review helped you decide if this toy was the right product for your child!
